MANSFIELD — Mansfield City Council on Tuesday evening is expected to vote on a proposed annexation of 27.011 acres of land from Madison Township.
Property owners of the land, Blevins Finishing Systems Inc. and Steven R. Brown, have petitioned for the annexation.
The land is located on the city’s southeast corporation limits on the west side of South Illinois Avenue, according to proposed legislation.
“Property owned by Blevins Finishing Systems Inc. has already been provided with municipal water service, and the property owned by Steven R. Brown will be provided with municipal water service on or before Jan. 1, 2021,” according to the legislation.
“Both properties, from a sanitary sewer standpoint, are serviced by the Richland County Sewer System. Fire protection, police protection and other municipal services will be available to these properties when such annexation takes place,” the legislation reads.
As part of the annexation request, the owners agree to provide a “buffer” separating the use of the annexed territory and the adjacent land remaining within the township if the planned uses of the property “are clearly incompatible with the uses permitted under current county or township zoning regulations.
The City Council zoning committee is expected to discuss the annexation request in a meeting at 6:50 p.m. Council caucus and its legislative session are planned immediately thereafter.
In other action Tuesday, City Council is expected to:
— vote on the mayor’s appointment of Richland Bank President Chris Hiner to the city’s Fair Housing Commission, filling an unexpired term. Hiner’s term would expire July 15, 2021.
— vote to accept a $38,389 grant from the Ohio Office Criminal Justice Services for the Mansfield Police Department’s Project Safe Neighborhood Program.
