SHELBY — Saturday morning was bright and sunny as three age groups swarmed the Shelby Christian & Missionay Alliance Church grounds hunting for Easter Eggs. The event was a cooperative effort with Shelby Y, US Bank, Mr. Ed, and SCMA Church.
Participants were directed to the sanctuary where they were invited to have a picture taken with the Easter Bunny, make a craft, and given instructions and rules about the egg hunt. Caitlin McKelvey (Y Director) stated there were more than 100 pounds of candy in the plastic eggs and more than 300 participants were involved.
“We have three age zones marked,” Pastor Jason Nelson of SCMA said “Zone one is for ages 3 and under. Zone two is for 4 – 8 year olds and zone four is for 8 years and older.
“There are three eggs specially marked inside. Each participant that finds one of those eggs will win a free bike from US Bank. Every child that finds atleast 20 eggs wins a chocolate bunny.”
Before the egg hunt began Shelby’s own “Mr. Ed” provided music and urged the children to dance the Funky Chicken.
