MANSFIELD — In an announcement that came as a shock to the community, the Ohio Department of Education has decided to unify the Madison Local and Mansfield City School District.
The two districts will merge into Mansfield Consolidated Schools.
“While we realize that the two schools have a proud history and rich rivalry; we think they’d be better together.” said Jim O’Bannon, director of strategic innovation at ODE.
O’Bannon further said he is most excited about the dawn of friendships he expects this to spark.
“I cannot wait to see all of Mansfield joining hands and singing the new alma mater, ‘Kumbaya,'” he said.
As for a mascot, the new school will compete as the Mansfield Consolidated Golden Retrievers.
Also, we’re going to stop this story here and wish you a happy first day of April. It could be a long one, friends.
Happy April Fool’s Day
