I would like to take this time to thank each and every citizen of our fine community for their patience and assistance during the intense snow storm we had last week.
We had reports of neighbors helping neighbors; city workers assisting stranded motorists; and our safety forces going above and beyond to get to our citizens in need.
Thank you to our dispatch center who took over twice the number of emergency calls for help than they did during that same week last year.
Our street department put over 450 miles on the city plow trucks just on Rt. 30 alone. They worked around the clock with every truck available, and had mechanics on standby for the trucks that were overworked from the tremendous about of snow.
I offer my sincere thanks to this great community for your patience and understanding during what they are calling the worst storm we have had in four decades. We work as a team in this community and I am so proud of all we do to keep our citizens safe.
