SHELBY — The Shelby Historic Preservation Commission is requesting public input for the Shelby City Historic Preservation Plan 2019-2023.

The first public input meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Marvin Memorial Library, 29 West Whitney Ave., Shelby. All persons interested in what the Shelby City Historic Preservation Plan should include and how to move forward with historic preservation as a tool in economic development are welcome to attend.

The purpose of the Shelby Historic Preservation Plan is to: educate the public about the value of buildings in Shelby already on the National Register of Historic Places with includes the Center Historic District; find assistance from several historic resources to rehabilitate, restore, repurpose, and maintain historic landmarks for future generations; and enhance economic development through historic preservation.
