power outage

Almost 500 area homes rang in the New Year in the dark Monday night and into Tuesday after high winds roared through north central Ohio.

FirstEnergy reported multiple power outages around the area after wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour topped a day of unseasonably warm temperatures and steady rain. Power is expected to be restored by 10 p.m. tonight, according to the FirstEnergy website.

Ohio 314, just south of Myers Road in Richland County, was closed due to high water,  the Ohio Department of Transportation announced Monday around 9:30 p.m. It was not known when the road would re-open.

A wind advisory for Richland County ended at 7 a.m. today. Cloudy weather is expected today with a high around 37.
