MANSFIELD — A water main break in the Walnut Street area caused the closure of the Mansfield Richland County Public Library on Wednesday as well as a section of North Walnut Street.
“We were notified this morning of the break,” said Jean Ruark, communications coordinator for the library. “The city could not give an estimated time for repair, so the administration chose to close for the day. All branch locations are open; as far as we know, the Main Library will be open tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the city announced it has shut down water service to the following areas:
North Walnut from Park Avenue West to West Third Street
West Third Street from Mulberry Street to North Walnut Street.
North Main Street from West Fourth Street to North Park Street.
The city said water service is expected to be restored to the areas by the end of the work day barring any unforeseen problems.
