MANSFIELD — The body found at Gorman Nature Center on Saturday has been identified as 58-year-old Melissa Boone, according the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
Tom Stortz, an investigator with the Richland County Coroner’s Office, said Boone may have died of hypothermia.
“Right now the preliminary report didn’t show a lot, so it’s natural causes, maybe hypothermia,” Stortz said. “She wasn’t dressed very warmly.”
Boone’s body was sent to Montgomery County for the autopsy, Tom Stortz said.
Boone was reported missing from Lexington on Saturday and was found dead later that afternoon, according to Maj. Joe Masi from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
“No foul play is suspected,” Masi said on Saturday.
