BELLVILLE — Two men are charged with aggravated armed robbery, according to a Bellville Police Department Facebook post.
Brent A. Denny, 34, of Mansfield, and Bryant N Burchett, 29, of Mansfield, were seen leaving the Love’s Truck Stop “at a high rate of speed,” at 4:06 p.m. Sunday, the post states.
According to the narrative, a Bellville police pursuit followed the speeding Dodge Truck heading north on Middle Bellville Road. During the pursuit, law enforcement learned there had been a robbery at the Love’s Travel Stop. The vehicle lost control north of Vanderbilt Road, going to the right side of the road where the driver fled on foot into the woods.
A passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody at the scene and a search for the driver was conducted in the area by Bellville Police with the assistance of Mansfield Police, Lexington Police, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Facebook release said. At about 8:50 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious male on Orchard Park Road and the second suspect was taken into custody without incident.
“Evidence any the scene of the crash connected the suspects with the robbery of the Loves Travel Stop,” the post said.
Love’s employees told police a single white male entered the store to ask for change, brandished a chrome handgun and made off with the cash drawer. An undetermined amount of money was taken.
No employees were injured in the incident.
Both men are in the Richland County Jail and the case will be forwarded to the Richland County Prosecutors for review and possible additional charges.
