I am optimistic that the new round of oil and natural gas drilling in the area will provide the job creation and economic boon that has happened in eastern Ohio.
Eastern Ohio has become the center of the energy industry, creating thousands of long-term jobs. The industry has reviltalized towns with activity and opportunity. It would be nice to have these jobs locally to provide more options for the area.
According to recent studies, over 282,000 Ohio jobs are supported by the oil and natural gas industry. Oil and natural gas development creates high-paying jobs, not just from the operator, but also with subcontractors and throughout the supply chain.
Production of Ohio’s natural resources positively impacts construction, manufacturing, transportation, retail and other service areas. This also means more money in pockets to be spent at local restaurants, shops and car dealerships.
Expansion of oil and natural gas development from eastern Ohio to our area could create a new wave of employment opportunities that we have not seen in generations — and I am hopeful that it does.
