ASHLAND – A workshop to provide small, women, and disadvantaged businesses an overview of the U. S. Department of Transportation’s certification program for federally-funded heavy construction and design contracts is being offered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

The ODOT Division of Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Outreach will sponsor a “Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Certification & Opportunities” workshop on Thursday, June 21 at ODOT District 3 offices, 906 Clark Avenue, Ashland. The workshop will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The workshop will provide small, women, and disadvantaged business owners an opportunity to learn about the DBE Certification including qualifications, process, project prospects and highlight additional ODOT procurement and vendor opportunities.

“ODOT’s needs in building and maintaining the valuable transportation system we have are vast. That is why we are focusing on reaching disadvantaged and small business so they can share in our successes,” said Terry Bolden, administrator, ODOT ODI Office of Outreach. DBE Certification gives firms an advantage to participate on highway and consultant services contracts.

Pre-registration for the workshop is preferred but not necessary. Those interested are asked to register by June 19 at http://ashlanddbeworkshop.eventbrite.com.

Registration may also be made by contacting Lisa Washington, ODOT Office of Outreach, 419-345-7828; lisa.washington@dot.ohio.gov.
