ASHLAND — As school ended, Career Based Intervention (CBI) students at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center put the final touches on eight blankets they had made for shipment to St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

“I encourage my students to do a service project every year. Several ideas floated around, but we voted, and this one won,” said CBI Instructor Melissa Meeker. “We sponsored a dress down day to raise money to make the blankets… My students really had a good time cutting them out and fringing them.”

The CBI program offers a chance for sophomores to receive individual support as they catch up on needed credits and also offers an opportunity for them to explore several career-technical programs through observation and participation.

Twenty-one of this year’s 22 CBI sophomores found a career-technical passion and are enrolled in Career Center programs next fall.
