MANSFIELD — Braxton Daniels has had success with his photography, but for the first time, his work will be solely featured in an art show.
His work has been on display previously at the Pearl Conrad Art Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield and the Membrane Constellation at La Luna in downtown Mansfield.
The show, called Stray, begins Saturday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at the Green Room Gallery at 14 South Park Street, off the square in downtown Mansfield.
“For me, it’s like all of my success — all of my work is in one area,” Daniels said. “Group installations are cool, but when it’s just the stuff you’ve done, I think it’s huge. It’s huge for me.”
The photographer has been working on the 60 photos on display for three years, he said. The photos will all be for sale, but Daniels said his main goal is to have people “just view” them.
“I’ve done a lot and I’m proud to show other people what I do,” he said. “These are mostly my landscapes, nature photography. I don’t have many portraits in there. Nature Photography is what I go to, what I crave.
“You can’t mimic nature; you can’t pose nature. I could be in the same spot for several days and each photo would be different. You can’t recreate it and I think that’s the beauty behind it all.”
Daniels said seeing the photos printed gave him a lot of pride in his work.
“To see my pictures huge — they’re big and broad compared to the two-inch screen on the back of my Nikon (camera), it’s like (wow) it’s huge. To be able to walk around and scan the photo, that’s a big thing. That what I’m amazed by.
“I just hope people appreciate the stuff I do. I’ve put in a lot of hard work.”
