MANSFIELD — Jen Lepard, athletics director for the Mansfield City School District, has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to Superintendent Brian Garverick.
A letter from the school dated May 18 to Lepard notified her of her placement on paid leave, but did not cite a reason.
Lepard, appointed as the district’s athletics director in June of 2017, was also the Mansfield Schools Education Association’s treasurer since July 2015.
A police report stated MSEA noticed discrepancies in its funds and asked an auditor to investigate the account. When money could not be accounted for, the MSEA went to the Mansfield Police Department.
According to a records request by Richland Source on May 3, Lepard is scheduled to make $61,201 this year.
Rich Miller, a detective with MPD in the major crimes unit, was advised on May 10 that Lepard “stole an undetermined amount of the funds” from the teacher’s union account, according to a police report.
Prosecutor Gary Bishop said authorities received the results of the investigation on May 21. He said the office was unable to share any further information.
The athletic director position is not a school administration position, the district stated.
This is a developing story.
