MANSFIELD — The Richland County Board of Elections certified the official results Thursday, and the race for Richland County commissioner does not meet the requirement to order an automatic recount.

The results would have had to have been within one-half of one percent of the total vote in that race, and they were not.

The margin of difference increased by a couple of votes, with Dale Hulit getting 4698 votes and Marilyn John ending up with 4801 votes in the official count. This is a difference of 103, and the election night unofficial total was a difference of 101.

Added to the unofficial totals were 111 provisional ballots, four regular paper ballots which were incorrectly packaged as provisionals and not counted on election night, and 30 late, but eligible absentees which were postmarked by May 7 as required under Ohio Election Laws.
