WOOSTER TOWNSHIP — A Wooster man was killed in a single motorcycle crash in Wayne County on Monday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

James Saffell, 61, of Wooster, was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol reported. The crash occurred on Sylvan Road at approximately 5:31 p.m.

Saffell was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson Tri Glide northwest on Sylvan Road, southeast of South Hillcrest Drive. The Patrol stated he failed to negotiate a curve and the motorcycle traveled off the north side of the road before striking an embankment, a utility pole and overturning.

Drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash but Saffell was not wearing a helmet.

Responding to the scene were Troopers from the Wooster Post of the Highway Patrol and EMS personnel from Wooster Township Fire Department. Wayne County Coroner Dr. Amy Jolliff also responded to the scene.
