ASHLAND — United Way of Ashland County’s 12th annual “Ring In Spring” Family Fun Fair & Community Day Starts this year with a Phil Dirt and the Dozers concert presented by First-Knox National Bank at the Ashland County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 4.
Food trucks open to the public serving at 5 p.m. The concert is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
The family portion of Ring in Spring continues on Saturday, May 5 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Early morning activities on the fairgrounds begin with the famous Kiwanis Pancakes served by donation from 7:30 to 11 a.m. in The Cafeteria.
Tom’s Kitchen Table will provide the live entertainment from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Spidel Pavilion. It is a no cooking weekend with food trucks all day long, including: Charcoal Mafia, Kona Ice, Lerchs Donuts, Linn Enterprise, Mitchell’s Orchard, Stoops Southwest, and Puglisi Pizza.
The Ashland community can also show support at the beginning of the morning by participating in the annual “Run with the Stars” 5K race to benefit Safe Haven Domestic Violence Shelter, sponsored by Ashland County Sheriff’s Office. Participants can walk or run and can register at the Safe Haven Facebook page. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. and the entry fee is $20.
An important part of Ring in Spring is the Donley Ford LINCOLN of Ashland Drive 4 UR Community event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. United Way will receive $20 per person per test drive; 300 licensed drivers are needed. Donley Ford will match the $6,000 for a potential of $12,000 that will be designated to the 2019 campaign. Every test driver will receive a free Lerches donut and be registered for some great giveaways for being a part of reaching the goal of 300 drivers.

They make this event happen, and we are so thankful for the generous opportunity provided to United Way by Donley Ford LINCOLN. The impact of this drive will help many families in Ashland.”
An upscale flea market and special vendor booths will showcase up-cycled furniture, crafts, food items, jewelry and more! Auctioneer Dick Dilgard starts the live auction at 1:00 pm, and there are over 100 incredible auction items such as OSU tickets, vacation packages to Gatlinburg, a loveseat provided by Fickes Furniture and a custom made bar top table and four chairs donated by Dan Aber.
Many unique items, trips, furniture, merchandise, and gift cards are available for bid at the auction.
There are numerous fun things for kids to do at Ring in Spring. They could visit Mozelle Hall for the Cinco De Mayo Family Fund Day hosted by Ashland County Health Department and Family and Children First Council. They will have crafts, games, healthy food samples and the K-9 Law Dogs will provide demonstrations along with a 4H dog agility demonstration. The 15th annual Car, Truck and Rod Show will highlight the entrance to the fairgrounds with all makes and models welcome. Registration is from 9am to noon and the cost is only $10 for a vehicle and $5.00 for a truck. Dash cards to the first 30 registered and trophy for Best of Show and plaque for each class. This year the car show features Trucks!
