PERRY TOWNSHIP — A southern Richland County family was displaced in the wake of a blaze that drew the attention of fire departments from three counties on Sunday.
The Fredericktown Community Fire District responded to a mutual aid request from Richland County Sunday evening. Fire trucks were dispatched at 5:27 p.m. on Sunday to the 3000 block of Lost Run Road in Richland County on the report of a single family residential structure fire.
This was initially dispatched as a mutual-aid run from Richland County and only requested a tanker.
Upon the arrival to the scene, FCFD Chief Scott Mast assumed command of the scene, which was in the section of Perry Township (Richland) that contracts with Fredericktown. An additional engine from the FCFD was requested at that time in order to release Troy Township fire.
Johnsville Fire Department (Station 59) from Morrow County made the initial attack with their engine, utilized water supplied from their tanker and a draft they setup from the pond on site. Troy Township (Richland County) also responded with an engine and tanker as well.
The fire remains under investigation and will be led by the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office.
