ASHLAND — Students from Ashland and Mapleton earned $6,000 scholarships to Sullivan University after competing in the Culinary Affair with Pork event sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Pork Council Women.
The contest was hosted by the Wayne County Schools Career Center.
The third-place winner in this year’s recipe contest was senior Kiana Schaeg, of, Mapleton. She received a $6,000 scholarship to Sullivan University. In the cooking section of the competition, Schaeg and her cooking partner, junior Leon (Feibi) Wang, of Ashland, finished 7th.
Senior Makayla Keene, of Ashland finished 6th in the recipe contest, and she and her cooking partner, junior Beth Cadwallader, of, Mapleton, finished in third place in the cooking competition. Both received $6,000 in Sullivan University Scholarships and split the $50 monetary award.
The instructor is Kathy Diederich.
