Downtown Mansfield Inc. is trying to raise $20,000 to fund a series of beautification projects in the city.

MANSFIELD — Downtown Mansfield Incorporated has announced it’s expanding the beautification program for 2018.

In addition to the spring and summer planting, the organization is purchasing additional new planters for downtown to be strategically placed in areas lacking beautification. In addition, DMI will be planting the evergreens in planters throughout downtown this year during the holiday season.

“Last year, we planted spring and summer flowers throughout 101 planters, purchased 14 new planters for the downtown and filled 25 planters with evergreens during the holiday season,” said Jennifer Kime of DMI. “We were so happy with the results, that we are looking to grow those efforts.

“To achieve our goals, we are launching an expanding fundraising effort. Our #plantlove campaign will seek to fund the annual downtown beautification schedule instead of looking at small projects individually.”

In 2017, the total project cost was over $10,000, not including the support from the City of Mansfield towards planter preparation and watering.

“With the expanded projects, this year we are hoping to raise $20,000,” Kime said. “Donations typically range from $50 to $500 and are appreciated in any amount.

“This year, each dollar we raise will be generously matched by the Carl and Annamarie Fernyak Donor Advised Fund at the Richland County Foundation. So, your contribution will go even further towards our goal.”

Donations can be sent to DMI at 128 N. Main St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902 or online at https://richlandgives.razoo.com/story/Plantlove
