Mansfield had a happy day in 1960 when Burger Chef opened its doors at the corner of Lexington & Cline Avenues. You can’t beat 15-cent burgers served in all that sparkling glass and aluminum.

They pushed fast food for about a generation until 1984 when it became a Hardee’s, and then you could buy your burgers 24 hours a day.
Burger Chef changed their roofline when heat got expensive in the 1970s; and then Hardee’s put their name right on the roof.
Hardee’s made the corner hum for another generation until 2003, and then the place went quiet. In 2011 Slickz took over the grills for a while, and they had the best burgers of all. Then there were used cars for a time; and now we’re holding our breath hoping burgers will make a comeback.
