DURHAM, N.C. — Jacob Kasper posted more than 100 wins when he wrestled for Lexington High School.

The red-shirt senior has now added 100 more for Duke University.

Kasper earned his 100th career victory Wednesday night with a 16-1 technical fall against North Carolina’s Andrew Gunning during a team dual won by the Tar Heels, 28-14.

Kasper, ranked third nationally in the 285-pound weight class, led 1-0 after a penalty point against Gunning and then went to work and led 14-1 after two periods. He needed just 24 more seconds in the third period to earn his seventh technical fall of the year.

Kasper is now 31-2 this season and 100-36 in his career. He is on pace to break the Duke single-season wins record, needing six more victories to break the record. Those six wins also would put him at second on the career wins list.

Duke finishes the regular season Saturday against Old Dominion. Duke will honor three seniors prior to the 2 p.m. match against the Monarchs.

Kasper will then compete in the ACC tournament March 3 with hopes of returning to the NCCA championships that March 15-17 in Cleveland.

Kasper wrestled in the the nationals last season, losing in the semi-finals to eventual champion Kyle Snyder of Ohio State.
