MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP – A Shelby man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Ohio 603 near the village of Mifflin in Ashland County Sunday.
Errin R. Echelberry, 47, of Shelby, was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram truck north on Ohio 603 just north of Township Road 1875 when he drove off the east side of the road and struck two trees and a guardrail around 5:05 p.m., according to a news release from the Ashland Post of Ohio Highway Patrol. He died at the scene.
Echelberry was wearing a seat belt, and drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Mifflin Fire & EMS, The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office assisted the highway patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
