MANSFIELD — A multi-county land owners coalition has formed in response to a large resource extraction company, Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation, who is attempting to lease land and horizontally drill, according to community advocate Bill Baker.
Baker said Cabot is utilizing hydraulic fracturing, to explore for oil and gas resources in the Richland, Ashland and Holmes County areas.
“This type of unconventional extraction would have large impacts on the land and landowners,” Baker said. “I will be moderating a 30-minute session to introduce the issue and the coalition of local landowners who are concerned about this.”
The conference will be held in the Community Room at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1.
The library is located at 43 W 3rd St, Mansfield, OH 44902. There will be information packets available and a brief Q & A period will follow the group presentations. RSVP is appreciated.
