MANSFIELD — Assistant principal Scott Musser is the acting principal at Mansfield Senior High School, according to Mark Manley, director of personnel for the district.
Principal Jose Hernandez and Assistant Principal Fuzzie Davis were placed on paid administrative leave on Jan. 25, according to a statement released by the school on Monday morning.
“This is a personnel matter,” Superintendent Brian Garverick said. “The district has no further comment at this time.”
Musser sent the following message to parents via phone call and text alert on Tuesday afternoon:
“This is Scott Musser, Assistant Principal at Mansfield Senior High School. Safety and security of our students and staff is always our number one priority.
“Currently, I am in charge at Mansfield Senior High School. We have the team of Mr. Schiefer, Mr. Vincent, and myself working with and supervising students and staff. We also have a strong team of teachers and counselors.
“We want your child to be successful and will do everything possible to ensure that they are.”
Hernandez was formally approved by the board for his position on July 8, 2015. A message from Richland Source was left with Hernandez’s answering machine but has not been returned.
Davis has been an employee of the district for more than 20 years.
School Board member Gary Feagin was informed of the decision to place the administrators on paid leave Friday. He said he had no further comment on the issue.
