MANSFIELD — It’s been a steady climb all season long, but Mansfield St. Peter’s has reached the peak of the Division IV Ohio boys basketball poll.
The Ohio High School Athletics Association released the poll on Monday, after a statewide media panel ballot.
Last week the Spartans were ranked No. 2 in Division IV. However, coach Joe Jakubick’s team got 28 points from senior Jared Jakubick to spearhead a 67-61 victory over Northmor. The Knights were ranked No. 9 in the Division III poll, but dropped to 12th in the rankings after their record dipped to 14-1.
For Loramie was rated No. 1 in Division IV last week, but fell to No. 4, although the Redskins still received a first-place vote. St. Peter’s collected 12 first-place votes. No other school had more than two. Hannibal River is ranked No. 2 and McDonald with two first-place votes is rated No. 3.
The Spartans will take a 16-0 record, 8-0 in the Mid-Buckeye Conference, into Tuesday night’s game at arch-rival Mansfield Christian.
