MANSFIELD — Mansfield Senior High School Principal Jose Hernandez and Assistant Principal Fuzzie Davis were placed on paid administrative leave on Jan. 25, according to a statement released by the school on Monday morning.

Superintendent Brian Garverick said contrary to social media statements, the two were not escorted from the building or placed in handcuffs. No reason was given for the move.

“This is a personnel matter. The district has no further comment at this time,” Garverick said.

Hernandez was formally approved by the board for his position on July 8, 2015. A message from Richland Source was left with Hernandez’s answering machine.

Davis has been a longtime employee of the district.

School Board member Gary Feagin was informed of the decision to place the administrators on paid leave Friday. He said he had no further comments.
