SHELBY — Shelby St. Mary School will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 with community service and an open house.

The week’s theme — “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” — highlights the schools’ focus on faith development, academic excellence and dedication to community service. Students will spend the week working on service projects like a community food drive and blood drive.

“We appreciate the support we receive from the community, and we encourage our students to give back through service projects all year,” said principal Kimberly Stover. “It’s part of our effort to provide a well-rounded education.”

Stover invites prospective students, their families and community residents to an open house at St. Mary School on Jan. 28 at 11:30 a.m. to learn about the school’s educational programs and extracurricular activities. Students will conduct tours and staff will be on hand to accept applications for next year.

During the week, nearly 6,500 Catholic schools across the country will celebrate. St. Mary School serves students Pre-K (3-4) to 6th grade.
