ASHLAND – The Uniontown Players, an organization dedicated to bringing community theatre back to Ashland, are sponsoring a seven-week Youth Theater Workshop starting February 6.
The workshop is a series of classes geared toward children ages five through twelve, culminating in a family night production in the final week.
Taught by members of the Uniontown Players with both theatrical and educational experience, the workshop will teach children to enjoy the performing arts as a means to explore their artistic potential, build confidence and engage in their community while learning theater skills such as puppetry and stagecraft.
According to John Moser, president of the Uniontown Players, the Youth Theater Workshop is just one part of our campaign to get live community-based theatre up and running in Ashland once again.
“It’s a great opportunity us to introduce the arts of acting and stagecraft to young people in our area,” Moser said.
The workshop will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm from February 6 through March 20, the date of the family production.
Cost for the Youth Theater Workshop is $60 for the first child in the family, and $30 for each additional child. Those registering before Friday, January 12 qualify for a discounted rate of $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child.
The Uniontown Players, Inc., is a local non-profit organization that strives to enrich the cultural life of the Ashland area by providing local residents the opportunity both to attend and to participate in quality theatrical productions, as well as offering education in the theater arts to adults and children.
