MANSFIELD – The spirit of the holidays has once again made its way to Kingwood Center Gardens.
The historic rooms of Kingwood Hall have been decked out once again for Kingwood’s annual “Christmas at Kingwood” celebration. This year’s theme, “Heaven and Nature Sing,” brings together the animal kingdom with the beauty of Christmas.
Thousands of lights pave the way to each room of Kingwood Hall, decorated by partnering garden clubs and organization. Each room has a specific theme, from jungle cats in the library to a menagerie of birds in Mr. King’s office. A tree stretching two stories in the main entryway is home to birdhouses and feathered friends.
Outside, the Great Walk of Trees returns as a holiday favorite. Originally introduced in 2015, the walk features dozens of trees decorated by local businesses and organizations on display in the meeting hall across from the greenhouse.
Other outdoor activities include live music, campfires with s’mores materials on Saturdays, and an expanded light display on the grounds donated by Scott and LuAnn Trumpower.
“Christmas at Kingwood” will take place Thursdays through Sundays from Nov. 25 through Dec. 30, with many fun holiday activities in-between. On Dec. 7, founder C.K. King’s 150th birthday will be celebrated with birthday cupcakes. Sponsored by the Adena Corporation, tickets to the celebration will be $1.50.
That weekend on Dec. 9 and 10, the Christmas Market will take place at Kingwood where guests can pick up special gifts for themselves or loved ones. On Dec. 14 through 17, a model train display will be brought thanks to the Ashland Model Railroaders and Railfans.
A special visitor will come to Kingwood just in time for Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 23. Santa Claus himself will be visiting Kingwood to collect last-minute gift requests from area children.
Tickets to “Christmas at Kingwood” are $5 per person, and children 6 and under are admitted for free. Members and volunteers at Kingwood also receive free admission.
