LOUDONVILLE – The Mohican Area Community Fund’s 42nd annual “Have a Mohican Heart!” fundraising campaign has raised nearly $41,000 in cash and pledges to date in its effort to achieve its 2018 campaign goal of $90,000.
As in past years, the campaign will provide essential funding for 35 local nonprofit organizations and other charities that support academic excellence, the arts, health and family services, youth sports, scouting and recreation, and help preserve thcoe mmunity’s historic past.
“We have 45 days of active campaigning left and every dollar contributed will impact our ability to serve the people of our Greater Mohican community,” said Brian Hartzell, MACF president and campaign chairman.
The 15-member board is actively pursuing additional gifts from individuals, businesses and groups to boost the campaign. Leading contributors to date include the Hugo and Mabel Young Foundation, Farmers and Savings Bank, Park National Bank Foundation, and the students and teachers of the Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village Schools, and a number of anonymous individual donors.
Recently, nearly 1,100 elementary, middle and high school students, supported by their parents, teachers and other staff, collected spare change for the annual Every Penny Counts! drive, raising more than $2,500. Leading classrooms at each school received a pizza party for their efforts, provided by Loudonville’s Trails End Pizza.
Local residents can still contribute to the campaign by depositing their spare change into canisters that have been placed in various retail businesses in the Loudonville-Perrysville area. Donors can also mail a check to MACF at 131 W. Main St., Loudonville, Ohio 44842, or contribute online at www.mohicanacf.org.
