MANSFIELD — Mansfield Police are asking for the public’s help in apprehending a robbery suspect that struck twice on Sunday.
Captain Shari Robertson of the Mansfield Police said on Sunday Nov. 12, between the hours of 6 and 6:20 p.m., two businesses in Mansfield were robbed within .6 of a mile of each other.
The suspect in both robberies was described as a white male between the ages of 30 to 50 years old, wearing a red pullover type of jacket with a gray hoodie underneath and blue jeans. Witnesses described the suspect to officers as clean-shaven and bald.
The two victim businesses were The Recovery Room at 181 Sturges Ave., and the Lexington Avenue Drive Thru, 261 Lexington Ave.
Robertson said in a press release the suspect made reference to having a firearm in his possession during one of the robberies, while keeping his hand in his jacket pocket.
The suspect was last observed running towards the area of Massa Avenue from the Lexington Avenue robbery location.
Anyone who can possibly identify this person is asked to call Detective Rich Miller of the Mansfield Division of Police at 419-755-9758. If you see this subject or know his location, call Mansfield Police Dispatch at 419-522-1234 or “911” immediately.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be an old decommissioned taxi that once belonged to “CD Taxi,” a Mansfield taxi company. It is a dark blue 4-door Chevy Equinox with a possible Ohio Dealer license plate of “004A1SG.” The side of the vehicle may have a faded impression of “CD Taxi #4” on the door(s).
“We recognize the community’s valued assistance in solving crimes such as this and any assistance would be greatly appreciated in identifying and apprehending this suspect,” Robertson stated.
