MANSFIELD – A locally owned insurance agency announced an expansion this week that will allow them to better serve the Columbus market.

The Hamilton Insurance Group, 1669 Lexington Ave., acquired the O’Dell Insurance Agency of Gahanna, Ohio.

“It’s a big deal for us because it grows our agency and brings new products and services to our agency,” said president Neil Hamilton. “It also gives us a physical address in the Columbus area.”

He says the agency has already been serving central Ohio, but believes it will be easier with a permanent office and staff.

The O’Dell Agency, 136 S. Stygler Rd. in Gahanna, was founded by Margot O’Dell in 1982 and is an independent agency specializing in business insurance. It’s one of the largest writers of Lottery Bonds in Ohio, Hamilton noted.

With this acquisition, Hamilton Insurance adds three more staff members bringing its total to 16. Also, it provides additional insurance companies and products to Hamilton Insurance Group that, Hamilton says, will allow the company to “expand the product portfolio here in Richland County.”

The acquisition was effective Nov. 1.
