SHELBY — A crowd of people gathered outside Discovery Dental Thursday afternoon, but they weren’t visiting the Shelby dental office to have their teeth examined or cleaned.
The group of public officials, Richland Area Chamber of Commerce representatives and others gathered with Dr. Marissa Miller and her staff to celebrate recently completed renovations with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the 100 W. Main St. facility.
“We added two more treatment rooms, so we have more space physically, but we also made a much better staff room, a better place to have lunch,” Miller said.
The remodeling and expansion project began about a year ago, and Miller says she’s pleased with the results.
“I just need to almost take it in, now that it’s finally all done,” she said. “We’re still getting used to the new traffic patterns in the office — I’ve gone to the wrong door a couple times, or I’ve walked into the wrong room a couple times, but I think we all like having more space.”
Miller opened her office in 2010 and bought the building about two-and-a-half years ago.
The office’s name comes from two of her favorite things: discovering new things and being a dentist. She said she enjoys learning new things and traveling and is sometimes fortunate enough to do both at the same time.
Orthodontist Benjamin Gregg also works from the Shelby office a few times per month. Miller noted that Shelby no longer has a full-time orthodontist in the city, making this a valued service.
“Shelby is just the right spot for me, right spot for my team, so we’re really, really happy to be able to invest in our building,” Miller said.
