Eric D. Jones, 62, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at Lifecare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio.
He was born Jan. 9, 1955, to Edith (Hawkins) Jones.
Eric was the former owner and operator of Lee’s Rug and Carpet Cleaning. A very talented artist, he could draw or paint anything he saw, imagined, or memorized. Fishing and golfing were two activities he enjoyed immensely. Not only artistically talented, but a jack of all trades, Eric could build, construct or repair anything put before him.
He is survived by two children, Eric D. Jones and Jacquelyn M. Jones; step-son, Chick B. Barber Jr.; five grandchildren, Eric D. Jones Jr., Sahar Bond, Timothy Bond Jr., Chick N. Barber and Nayilah Brooks-Barber; a brother, Philip “Owenie” (Penney) Jones; two sisters, Phyllis (Jesse) Tufts and Starla Jones; special niece, Shawntoya Jones and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins; special aunt, Jeri Wilburn; special cousins, James “Tokie,” Marc and Lawanda Caldwell; and many friends.
Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Hawkins Jones; sister, Dora “Snookie” Reed; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandparents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the family in care of Wappner Funeral Directors.
