Several area teams remain in playoff hunt with 3 weeks left

COLUMBUS – Eight area high school football teams remain in the playoff hunt, according to the latest round of computer rankings from the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

The top eight schools from each region in the final report Oct. 29 will qualify for the playoffs.

In Division II, Region 7, Ashland (6-1) moves up to 4th place after its 46-20 win in Week 7 over Mansfield Senior. The Tygers (5-2) are in 7th place in Division III, Region 10. The Arrows travel to Lexington this week to face their Ohio Cardinal Conference foe and Mansfield hosts league leaders Wooster.

Two undefeated area teams, Clear Fork and Shelby, are No. 1 and 2 respectively in Division IV, Region 14. The Colts are coming off a 41-0 win over Galion and host Ontario this week. Shelby blanked Edison 43-0 last week and hosts Port Clinton this week.

In Division VI, Region 22, the Crestview Cougars (4-3) are in 9th place after a big win over Monroeville last Friday. Despite losing its two of its last three games, Hillsdale (5-2) is in 10th place. The Falcons host Chippewa for Homecoming this week.

Northmor (5-2) is ranked 5th in Division VI, Region 23. The Golden Knights dropped a 32-28 decision against East Knox last week and travel to Mount Gilead this Friday.

In Division VII, Region 27, Lucas is in second place after beating Crestline, 53-8.  week, the Colts go on the road to face Colonel Crawford.
