Janet Whatman, 82, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 at her home peacefully surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 19, 1935 in Huron, Ohio.
Janet loved spending time with her family and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed watching shopping network (QVC) kitchen with David. Janet enjoyed reading her romance books.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Horace C. Whatman Jr., sister, Linda Amsel; one son, William H. Whatman; four daughters, Becky (Lenny) Patton, Jenny (Alex) Piroska, Judy (Robert) Slabodnick, and Sue (Jeff) Bucher; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie McMillen; brothers, Allen McMillen and Charles McMillen; and sisters, Barbara McDonald, and Dottie Delamatre.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at the funeral home with Chaplain Ben Roby officiating.
