COLUMBUS — Several north central Ohio teams were listed among the leaders in their respective regions when the Ohio High School Athletic Association released its first football computer ratings entering Week 5.

The top eight schools from each region in the final report Oct. 29 will qualify for the playoffs.

In Division II, Region 7, Ashland sits in fifth place. Coach Scott Valentine’s team is 3-1 and averages 6.1 points.

In Division III, Region 10, Mansfield Senior (3-1) is in sixth place with a 5.4 average. The Tygers have a points opportunity on Friday night, traveling to Maple Heights (2-2), who is 10th in the region.

Three area teams populate Division IV, Region 14. Clear Fork (4-0) sits atop the region at 8.75 points, while Shelby (4-0) is third at 6.925 points and Galion (3-1) is ninth at 4.8422 points. Shelby hosts Norwalk (2-2) on Friday night and the Truckers are 12th in Division III, Region 10, behind Mansfield Senior. The Colts host Buckeye Valley, while Galion is home against River Valley.

In Division VI, Region 22, Hillsdale is third with 5.5 points. The Falcons are undefeated heading into Friday night’s game at Northwestern (1-3). Wynford is seventh in the region. The Royals (3-1) have 3.925 points but a chance to gain a points bonanza at undefeated Carey on Friday night.

Undefeated Northmor is third in Division VI, Region 23. The Knights are at Danville (3-1) on Friday night.

In Division VII, Region 27, Lucas (3-1) is third with 5.075 points.
