CRESTLINE –The recycling trailer in the Avita (previously Geyer’s) parking lot in Crestline is being removed permanently, according to the Crawford County Solid Waste Management District.

The district issued a press release Monday stating that it was pulling the trailer because of the continued abuse of it.

“Over the years, people have illegally dumped mattresses, televisions, tires, and other items beside the trailer,” the press release states. “We are at the mercy of the land/property owner where our trailers sit. The continued dumping at this site has caused Avita to ask us to remove the trailer.

“Beginning (Aug. 28, 2017), unless another suitable location can be found, Crestline will no longer have a 24/7 recycling trailer.”

The following are locations of nearby recycling collections:

Lowe-Volk Nature Center collects recyclables every second Saturday of every month.

Galion City Schools collects recyclables every second and fourth Thursdays of every month.

A trailer is parked on the north side of Colonel Crawford High School every first Saturday of every month.
