Michael “Mike” L. Elswick Sr., 55, of Galion, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Ohio Health Mansfield, after a battle with cancer.
Mike was born in Ironton, Ohio, on Nov. 27, 1961 to the late Carl and Janet (Allen) Elswick.
He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Virginia Webber.
Mike was a machinist at American Tool, Mansfield for 27 years. Mike was an accomplished musician, playing the drums and guitar, and singing. He had a great sense of humor. A hard worker, Mike was also a loving father.
Mike is survived by his children, Samantha Elswick, of Mansfield, and Michael Elswick Jr., of Shelby; his grandchildren, Ava Hoskins, Dusty Thomas, Nicole Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Cassandra Armstrong, Zion Sipes, Elliana Sipes, Ashley Sprenger, Andrew Sprenger; his brothers, C.G. “Pete” and Rhonda Elswick, Franklin Furnace, Carl Albert Elswick and Mindy Fowler, of South Point, Samuel and Traci Elswick, of Orlando, Florida, and James and Erica Elswick, of Huntington, West Virginia; his sister Debra and Rick Jenkins, of Hanging Rock, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 6-year-old brother, Johnnie Ray Elswick.
Friends may call Friday, July 21, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10 a.m., with Mike’s nephew, Pastor Rick Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Marion.
