MANSFIELD – A man in a utility bucket was electrocuted Wednesday afternoon when he came in contact with a live wire while pulling new wires, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The lineman was identified as Robert McNeish, 49, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He was transported to OhioHealth and later flown to OSU burn unit in Columbus and listed in critical condition.
The incident took place on Riggle Road in Worthington Township around 3 p.m.
The bucket truck, a 2011 Ford, was operated by Robert Stroup, 48, of Chicora, Pennsylvania. He was not injured in the incident.
A flagger assisting the crew noticed McNeish had come in contact with the live wires and immediately ran to the truck and lowered the bucket to render aide, the patrol reported.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
