MANSFIELD — Main Street Books is the site on Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m for a listening party of a local musician.

Galion singer/songwriter Eric Barnett, and his debut album Shipwreck in a Bottle, headlines the event. The album will be released the following day, on Friday, June 23, making this a sneak peek event.

With Barnett in attendance, the audience will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions about each track and the work as a whole. It is a chance to learn about the creator and the piece and have a deeper, more intimate experience than if one was listening alone.

There will be snacks and drinks and discussion and introspection are encouraged.

About Eric Barnett

Eric Barnett is a factory worker, the son of a car salesman and a schoolteacher. He lives in the place where he’s from – Galion, Ohio. When he’s not punching the clock on 2nd or 3rd shift (or both), he’s a singer/songwriter.

Eric started out playing trumpet in grade school, then guitar in junior high. In high school and college, he played as a sideman and occasional frontman in many bands of varying genres within the “rock” vein.

After a short stint in ambient and avant-garde music, he settled upon what he felt like he should have been doing all along – writing songs and singing his story.

In early 2017, Eric began work on his first full-length release, Shipwreck in a Bottle.

Recording most of the instruments himself in his Galion basement, the DIY album sums up Eric’s first five years playing as a solo singer/songwriter. After a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the mastering and pressing of the album, Shipwreck is set to be released on June 23.
