MANSFIELD — A 74-year-old Mansfield woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Fitchville Township, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Mary Ann Nore was transported via Cleveland Metro Life Flight to Metrohealth Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and died later at the hospital, the patrol reported.

The incident took place at approximately 5:29 p.m. on Ohio 13 just north of Omega Road in Huron County.

According to a media release from the highway patrol, a Kia Soul driven by 20-year-old Taquila McGill, of Sandusky, was northbound on Ohio 13. Meanwhile, Nore’s Suburu Forester was southbound. McGill drifted off the right side of the road, over-corrected, then drove left of center and struck Nore’s vehicle head-on, the patrol reported.

McGill sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center by Cleveland Metro Life Flight. An 18-year-old passenger in McGill’s car also sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported to Fisher-Titus Hospital in Norwalk. A 5-month-old child was in McGill’s vehicle but was uninjured.

All involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts, the patrol stated. Alcohol and/or drug use is unknown in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Agencies from the New London Fire District, North Central EMS, Firelands EMS, Cleveland Metro Life Flight, and Jenson’s Towing all assisted at the scene.
