GALION – Terry and Renee McMillen have been collecting antiques for the duration of the 35-year marriage.
So, it wasn’t surprising when the couple’s antique shop quickly outgrew its location in downtown Galion.
They didn’t have to move far though.
At a ribbon-cutting event Friday, May 12, the Copper Horse Antiques shop of downtown Galion announced its new location, 106 E. Harding Way, which is right across the street from their former location, 127 E. Harding Way.
“We opened last August across the street and quickly outgrew it,” Renee McMillen said. “The new space, it’s three times bigger and we still filled it up pretty quickly.”
It’s already packed full of treasures the McMillen’s have collected over the years. The couple said the store offers a lot of unique items — and more new items arrive twice per week.
“This is what we do for fun,” Renee McMillen said.
She grew up buying antiques with her father and has enjoyed it all her life. Terry said that he got “bit by the bug” at some point along the way and found a passion for collecting, too.
Other family members help out as well. Some offer assistance with online sales, one provides free local deliveries and others, including young granddaughter, Isabella, help run the store.
The new location opened on April 1 following a six-week moving process.
The shop can be found online at www.thecopperhorse.com or reached via phone at 419-468-7015.
Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. The store used to be closed on Wednesdays, but it now remains open.
