ONTARIO — County and city officials welcomed Ontario’s newest business, TBT Nutrition Studio, which specializes meal replacement protein shakes, with over 80 different flavors to choose from, to the city on Friday with a grand opening celebration.
Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson gave his stamp of approval, noting, “It’s very tasty.”
He congratulated husband and wife, Kyle and Nikki Kennedy, and Nicole Whiting on the opening of their new store, which is located at 2244 Stumbo Road.
“We really love having you here,” Hutchinson said.
Whiting and the Kennedys also own Blends Nutritional Studio on Lexington Avenue, which opened in January 2016. The trio wanted to be able to provide an additional location for its customers. That sparked the opening of TBT Nutrition Studio in Ontario, which is named in honor of their children: Trenton, Blake and Tabor.
“No matter what shake you pick on that huge menu, the nutrition value stays the same: 240 calories, 24 grams of protein, nine grams of sugar,” said Whiting.
Their shakes are made with Herbalife product and sweetened with sugar-free syrups and/or dry pudding mixes.
These aren’t your typical protein shakes that tend to have a “chalky” aftertaste, Kyle noted.
“It seems like it’s not healthy because of the way it tastes,” he said.
Melissa Lapeer, general manager, swears by it.
She started going to Blends with her husband in August and has lost 20 pounds since then, she said.
She left her county job of 17 years to come work at the Ontario location.
“I believe in Nicole, Nikki and Kyle and what they do,” she said.
As wellness coaches, the owners welcome anyone who may have health/wellness-related questions, need assistance with meal planning, want to set weight-loss challenges, etc.
TBT Nutrition Studio is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
