The photographer for the 1896 Atlas of Richland County took special pains to document the inside and outside of Oak Hill Cottage in a full page spread of images.
One of the pictures captured the library, which had also once served as Dr. Jones office when he saw patients in Mansfield.
More than 120 years have passed since this photo was taken, and more than 170 years since the amazing old house was built; yet it is as if no time at all has lapsed: walking through the front door is like stepping through a portal into another era.
Oak Hill Cottage is open for visitors Sundays 2 to 5 p.m. April through December.
