Lee Roy learned about God early in his life and carried out the Christian principles throughout his life. He would do anything to help others and was devoted to his family and friends.
He had a special bond with each of his grandchildren. He loved music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar at home and with his church family. He was a huge fan of Galion Tigers Sports, Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and the Cleveland Browns.
Lee Roy Moore, 70 of Galion passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He is now resting in Gods loving arms.
Born Dec. 2, 1946 in Harlan, Kentucky, he was the son of Oscar and Josie (Gailey) Moore. He married Judy M. (Riley) Moore on March 17, 1973 and they enjoyed 36 years together until her passing on Feb. 25, 2010.
Lee Roy retired as a truck driver from Dearman Moving and Storage/United Van Lines. He was a member of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle Church in Galion. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Whistle Stop Diner and was his grandchildren’s “biggest fan”, when it came to sports. Lee Roy had eight siblings and had a special bond with each and every one of them.
He is survived by his children Ken Ellis, Lee II (Jennifer) Moore and Missy (Greg) Kaple, all of Galion; grandchildren Ceaira Brazil, Seth Ellis, Gabby Kaple, Hayden Kaple, Deagan Moore and Oliva Moore; sisters Rosie (Clyde) Bates, of Galion, Eula Dockery, of Kentucky and Bernice Morgan, of Galion, and brothers Bill (Sue) Moore, of Virginia, Charlie (Ruth) Moore, of Virginia, James (Diana) Moore, of North Carolina and Herman (Nancy) Moore, of Kentucky.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister Deloris Osborne.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle, 326 First Avenue, Galion, Ohio, 44833 with Pastor Rick Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. following the memorial.
