MANSFIELD — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Mansfield Police Department announced Tuesday the arrest of Gary L. Fisher in connection with a sex case involving a minor.
According to a press release from the FBI, Fisher, of Third Avenue in Mansfield, knowingly used, persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating a visual depiction of such conduct, and such visual depiction has actually been transported in and affecting interstate and foreign commerce.
Copies of the affidavit from authorities and a complaint were provided to Richland Source. However, Richland Source is not sharing details of the complaint because of its graphic and sensitive nature.
Investigators in Pennsylvania were also involved in the case, which the FBI reports included Facebook activity and videos.
Fisher was taken into federal custody based on a complaint affidavit without incident on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. The FBI said it anticipates Fisher will be indicted on federal charges later this month.
According to Richland County Common Pleas Court records, Fisher was convicted of rape in 2002 and sentenced to three years in prison. In 2005, he was sentenced to four years in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and he was sentenced to another three years because of his previous conviction. He was designated as a sexual predator.
