Ruth Elizabeth Standiford, 83, formerly of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Villages of Richardson in Texas.
She had been residing in Dallas, Texas.
Ruth was born May 7, 1933, in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter of Emmett and Clara (Zellner) Casler. She was a graduate of Madison High School and earned her Bachelor degree in Education from Muskingum College.
Ruth retired after 45 years of teaching in the public school system. She continued to substitute teach after retirement due to her love of being around children. She also taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Steve Freiman; granddaughter, Larisa Freiman; as well as sisters, Juanita Askey, Phyllis (Gene) Drummond, Shirley (Leonard) Payne, Cathy (Ed) Farmer and Cristine Stewart.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Standiford; three brothers, Emmett “Son” John and Maxi Casler; and one sister, Alverda Amend.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Scott Maglott officiating. Burial will proceed to Mansfield Cemetery.
