MANSFIELD — A 30-year-old Mansfield man was killed late Tuesday night in the city’s first homicide of 2017.
Mansfield Police responded to the area of South Adams Street and South Diamond Street around 10:43 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a shooting and a “man down” at that location
Upon arrival to the area, officers found Jarrod Cyrus laying on the sidewalk and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his face. Cyrus was immediately transferred to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead.
This shooting is believed to be an isolated incident. The Major Crimes Unit is currently in the process of identifying the suspects and following up leads in reference to this case as the investigation is ongoing.
